Yep. More typewriters. My Underwood no. 5 went to the typewriter doctors office a few days after it's first appearance on my blog found here. At the typewriter doctors office (otherwise known as my grandpa's work shop) I cleaned it up and restored it to working condition. During it's operation I acquired two more of these wonderful writing machines from the past; an Olympia M9 from the 1970s and a standard portable Underwood typewriter from the 1930s. Also in this post- a vintage telephone that I believe my mom picked up at a garage sale a few years back. It was seriously calling out "take my picture, take my picture" so I did. :) Oh the randomness of collecting such items! (now my room, which is where I am storing all of these antiques, smells like an antique shop :)

East Side Waterfront Bike Ride
Last Thursday was such a nice day (weather wise) which is partly why I decided to hop on my bike and ride somewhere. I packed my camera and while doing so made the final decision to go to the waterfront, though earlier I was open to riding anywhere, I just wanted to take photos. I very much enjoyed the ride down to the river from my house, (which is about a 6 mile ride, mostly down hill.) After arriving there I didn't have much time for photos seeing as the light was fading quickly behind the west hills, I shot what I could, packed up and headed home. The ride back was a bit of a work out because it's up hill for about 72 blocks. But it was relaxing at the same time; the light had mostly disappeared and I was riding in the cool spring evening air which cooled me down. It was an enjoyable bike ride and I am happy with the end result of the photos. I'm glad spring is here. :) And I am glad I live in Portland!

So I've Started a Collection of Typewriters...
I just added a new typewriter to my collection of two this afternoon. It is an Underwood no. 5. After doing some research on it, I found that back in the 1920s it was like the Windows XP of it's day meaning it is a very common typewriter. I've added a set up photo and two images of my first member of my collection - a Sears model from the 1970s.
Set up shot. It's an "in closet studio"
