Urban cityscape

Got some new photo editing software yesterday! Adobe Lightroom 2.0. Works great, and can't wait to learn more about it. It's a charm to use to edit groups of photos at a time, also works good for event photography which I do occasionally. I haven't done much BW conversions with it yet.

Hana's portraits! (w/ the 70-200)

This was the first real portrait test/shoot with the new lens. I am really impressed with the sharpness and clarity of this lens. The colors are great too, and having awesome detail is always a plus :) I love the soft background blur/shallow DOF in provides. I was actually hoping the bokeh would be better, but with the post below (B&W Kiss) I really like the bokeh in the top right corner, I think it is very decent for f/4. I am looking forward to shooting more portraits with this lens!

Got me some L glass!

Yesterday I went to Pro Photo Supply to buy my first ever canon L lens! I did my home work on the 70-200mm I bought. I ended up getting the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM! It works so well, and it is substantially lighter in weight then the daddy in the 70-200mm family (70-200mm f/2.8 L IS) It is a little shaky at 200mm with out IS, but for $450 more just for the Image Stabilizer feature, I think I'll save my money and just be really steady. This lens handles lens flair really well, and having a constant aperture is really really nice. I have one other lens that is constant aperture and love it! This lens is gold and totally worth the money. I can't wait to do a real portrait shoot with it, I got it mainly for that reason and to use outdoors.

Check back soon for more photos with the new lens!

Enjoy

Old Town Architecture

Canon rebel xti with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8
1/80th at f/14 at ISO 100

I took this while on a shoot for a client. And no it was not portrait work. The lady who started Saturday Market back in 1974 wanted me to photograph the new site for the market, yes Saturday Market is not in Skidmore/under the Burnside Bridge anymore. It has moved across the street into waterfront park. I personally like the change. So Jannette Spencer (the founder of the market) is making a book and wanted me to take photos for it, of the new site.

Hovering

I had the opportunity to shoot with Hovering and Laura the other day. I will be interning for their photography business over the summer. Also I was able to mess around with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L USM lens. It was simply wow, and stunned me with the color, contrast and detail it provides. The bottom photo obviously wasn't taken with a 70-200, that was a Canon ef 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens. Both were really fun to mess around with :)
